Egypt held Spain to a 0-0 draw in a friendly match at RCDE Stadium, with Hassan praising both the result and the performance against the world’s top-ranked side.
Speaking after the match, Hassan said he was satisfied with the encounter and the environment surrounding the team’s preparations. “We are happy with the friendly against the world’s top-ranked team and pleased with the ideal atmosphere of the camp,” he said.
The Egypt coach stressed the competitive nature of the match, rejecting its label as a mere exhibition. “A draw against a team of Spain’s stature is a good result. Today’s match was not a friendly — it was a very strong test ahead of the World Cup,” he added.
Hassan also highlighted the contribution of Egypt’s Europe-based players, singling out leading figures such as Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush. “I’m happy with Egyptian players in Europe such as Salah and Marmoush,” he said.
He underlined his broader objective of building a competitive squad. “My goal is to develop the team’s performance and the players, and I hope to build a strong team for Egyptian football,” he stated.
The draw marks Egypt’s seventh stalemate under Hassan, who has overseen 28 matches since taking charge. His tenure includes 17 wins, eight draws, and four defeats across 21 competitive fixtures and seven friendlies. During this period, Egypt have scored 43 goals and conceded 17.
Looking ahead, Egypt will compete in Group G at the World Cup alongside Iran, Belgium, and New Zealand.
