Egypt were held to a 0-0 draw by the Spain national football team in a friendly match at RCDE Stadium, with two players picking up injuries during the encounter.

Winger Islam Issa, 30, suffered a knee sprain during the Spain friendly and was taken to the hospital for further assessment, Abou El-Ela told the Egyptian Football Association’s official website.

Defender Mohamed Hany, 30, sustained a wrist injury and will also undergo scans, the team doctor noted.

Hany completed the match despite the injury, while Issa was forced off in the 65th minute following a challenge with Spain midfielder Fermín López.

Egypt had opened their training camp with a 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia.

The Pharaohs have been drawn in Group G at the World Cup alongside Iran, Belgium, and New Zealand, while Spain will compete in Group H with Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia, and Uruguay.
