During the call, both leaders discussed recent regional developments and explored ways to intensify efforts to safeguard the security, sovereignty, and stability of Arab states amid ongoing challenges, according to the Egyptian presidency.

President El-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s support for Iraq's security, as well as for efforts aimed at shielding the neighbouring country from any regional conflicts that could affect its stability.

He also reiterated Egypt’s support for the security of all Arab states, expressing complete rejection of any violation of their sovereignty, any attempts to undermine their stability, their peoples’ resources, or their territorial integrity.

For his part, the Iraqi premier praised Egypt’s supportive stance toward Iraq, highlighting the measures taken by the Iraqi government to preserve the country’s sovereignty amid ongoing regional tensions.

Both sides agreed to continue consultation and coordination to de-escalate regional tensions.

The call comes as tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate, with the US-Israeli war on Iran now in its fifth week, while Tehran is responding with retaliatory attacks on Israel and US military assets in the Gulf states and Iraq.

Egypt has recently intensified its de-escalation efforts, in coordination with regional partners, to initiate direct or indirect talks between Washington and Tehran to help end the war.
