Egypt reach highest FIFA ranking since 2017

Egypt climbed two places to 29th in FIFA’s April 2026 world rankings, their highest position since August 2017, when they were ranked 25th.

The Pharaohs benefited from positive results during the March international window, beating Saudi Arabia 4-0 in Jeddah before drawing 0-0 with European champions Spain in Barcelona.

Spain dropped to second in the rankings, losing top spot and allowing France to move into first place.

Egypt are the fifth-highest ranked African side, behind Morocco, Senegal, Nigeria and Algeria.
