Liverpool have been bolstered by the expected availability of Salah after the Egyptian missed the defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion and withdrew from international duty with a muscle injury.
Slot said the forward had trained with the squad and would be ready for selection. “He trained with us yesterday, he will train with us today and is available for the game tomorrow,” the Dutchman said.
The manager highlighted Salah’s recovery speed as a key factor. “The moment he got injured, there were doubts about City, but he told me he would be ready. He does so much for his body and recovers very fast,” Slot added.
This would be Salah's first game after announcing that he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season following a nine-year journey at Anfield.
Federico Chiesa is also in contention after returning early from Italy duty and resuming training with the team.
Jeremie Frimpong, who was withdrawn during the Netherlands’ midweek draw with Ecuador, has trained fully and is expected to be available, although Slot noted the need to carefully manage his minutes amid a congested schedule.
Goalkeeper Alisson Becker, however, remains sidelined and is not expected back until the closing stages of the season. He will also miss upcoming fixtures against Paris Saint-Germain.
Slot also provided an update on Alexander Isak, who has recently returned to training after more than 100 days out. While the striker could feature, the manager ruled out a starting role, citing the need to gradually rebuild match fitness.
“It would not make sense to start him after two sessions,” Slot said, adding that limited minutes from the bench remain a possibility depending on the match situation.
Liverpool face Manchester City on Saturday in a high-stakes FA Cup tie, with Slot now buoyed by the return of key attacking options.
