Sources told AlQahera News channel that the “positive atmosphere” prevailed during the two-day talks, and that all parties agreed to resume the talks in Cairo next week.
During the visit, the Palestinian factions’ representatives met with UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nikolay Mladenov, with mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey in attendance.
The talks focused on “finalizing implementation of the ceasefire in line with US President Donald Trump's plan and addressing the ongoing humanitarian fallout from the war in Gaza,” read a statement released by Hamas on Saturday.
Hamas and the participating factions called for the full and faithful implementation of the agreement's first phase, and demanded the immediate formation of a Palestinian National Transitional Committee to govern the Strip, a body envisioned under the ceasefire's second phase.
The statement noted that the proposed body would oversee civil administration and essential services to restore stability and lay the groundwork for reconstruction.
The delegation described the movement's position as "serious and positive," reaffirming its commitment to seeing the agreement through all its phases.
It added that consultations are continuing and that Hamas has received an invitation to return to Cairo for further talks in the coming days.
The delegation also thanked Egypt and President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, along with the other mediating parties, for their continued support of the Palestinian cause.
The talks come amid ongoing Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement reached in October 2025, as well as deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Gaza.
In a previous statement, Hamas said Israeli forces had killed 700 Palestinians since the agreement took effect, alongside a reoccupation of areas in Gaza near the so-called “yellow line,” a zone from which they were mandated to withdraw under the ceasefire agreement.
Cairo, as a key mediator, has hosted multiple rounds of indirect negotiations since the outbreak of Israel's genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023, and continues to coordinate closely with Doha and Ankara to bridge gaps, particularly over security arrangements, governance in Gaza, and reconstruction mechanisms.
