Egypt has dispatched a new humanitarian convoy to Gaza, the 170th “Zad Al-Izza… From Egypt to Gaza” aid convoy, carrying food, fuel, and critical supplies, as the Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) warned of deepening humanitarian pressures amid worsening conditions in the enclave.

The latest aid convoy, part of Egypt’s sustained humanitarian operation to Gaza, carried more than 1,180 tons of food supplies, around 650 tons of relief materials, and approximately 1,460 tons of fuel to support hospitals and critical infrastructure in the enclave, according to the Egyptian Red Crescent.

The ERC said it had also scaled up deliveries of winter assistance to ease the impact of severe weather conditions, including thousands of clothing items, mattresses, tarpaulins, and over 1,000 tents for displaced families.

In parallel, the organization continued coordinating the evacuation and treatment of wounded and ill Palestinians, receiving a new batch of patients and their companions, while providing hot meals, winter clothing, personal care items, and return kits for those heading back to Gaza.

Egypt has maintained a continuous humanitarian presence at the Rafah border crossing since the outbreak of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza, with the Egyptian side remaining operational as the ERC oversees aid flows through an extensive logistics network.

Since October 2023, Egypt has delivered more than 780,000 tons of humanitarian assistance to Gaza via the Rafah and Karm Abu Salem crossings, in coordination with international partners and supported by more than 65,000 volunteers.

Humanitarian conditions inside Gaza remain critical as Israel, which has killed almost 72,000 Palestinians since 7 October and displaced almost 90 percent of the enclave’s population multiple times, persists in constricting the flow of humanitarian aid to besieged Palestinian civilians.

Palestinians in Gaza still pay the price of Israel’s destruction of the enclave and its medical and civilian infrastructure.

More than two million Palestinians face acute food insecurity because of Israel’s war and siege, with widespread displacement and heavy reliance on external aid for survival.

According to UNICEF, children continue to bear the brunt of the crisis. The organization estimates that Israel has killed approximately 22,000 children and injured 44,500 others as of 3 February 2026. It also stated that at least 11,000 children have been left with life-altering injuries.

Furthermore, UNICEF affirms that over one million of Gaza’s 1.8 million children need protection and psychosocial support. An estimated 637,000 children have also been deprived of access to education, as the vast majority of schools across the territory (almost 97 percent) have been damaged or rendered inoperable by Israeli strikes and bombardment.

Malnutrition is rising sharply, with almost 320,000 children under five at risk, including around 100,000 children requiring urgent treatment, according to UN estimates.

Separately, projections by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification indicate a further deterioration in child nutrition levels through mid-2026, underscoring the depth of the humanitarian emergency.
