The condemnation comes amid heightened concerns over the security of diplomatic premises in conflict-affected areas, with Cairo stressing the legal obligations of host states to protect foreign missions under the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

The ministry denounced acts of rioting and attempted sabotage against the UAE facilities, urging full respect for international law and the protection of diplomatic personnel and property.

It reaffirmed that any targeting of diplomatic missions constitutes a serious breach of international norms governing diplomatic relations.

Egypt also expressed full solidarity with the UAE, calling for necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of diplomatic missions in accordance with international law.

The attack on the UAE diplomatic mission in Damascus followed protests that escalated into riots and acts of vandalism outside the compound, according to media reports.

Demonstrators gathered near the embassy and attempted to damage the premises, with Syrian security forces intervening to prevent a breach of the facility, reports said.

No confirmed casualties or major structural damage have been officially detailed.

The incident prompted swift diplomatic reactions, with several Arab and Gulf states condemning the attack and stressing the inviolability of diplomatic missions under international law.

The UAE called on Syrian authorities to ensure full protection of diplomatic premises, investigate the incident, and prevent its recurrence.
