The airport kicked off the year on a high note, with January 2026 recording 2,996,606, up from 2,635,041 in January 2025, marking a 14 percent year-on-year jump.
Flight movements mirrored that trend, rising to 21,044 from 18,529 over the same period, also marking a 14 percent increase, according to data released on Monday by airport.
February sustained the upswing, buoyed in part by the overlap with the Umrah season, which traditionally drives a surge in outbound religious travel.
The airport handled 2,757,932 passengers that month, a 12 percent rise compared to February the previous year, while flights climbed 14 percent to 19,505 movements.
In March, passenger numbers edged up to 2,328,662 from 2,298,547, and flights ticked higher to 18,825 from 18,419.
Chairman of Cairo Airport Company, Magdy Ishaq, credited the sustained growth to ongoing investments in operational systems and service quality improvements.
Cairo International Airport recorded its busiest day of the year on December 25, handling around 103,000 passengers across 696 flights, according to the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
For the full year, passenger traffic rose 6.8 percent to 30.94 million in 2025, up from 28.97 million in 2024, while flight movements climbed 4.8 percent year-on-year to 224,303.
The figures put the country on track towards target of attracting 30 million tourists by 2028.
Egypt welcomed around 15.3 million tourists in 2024, a nearly 5 percent increase from the previous year.
