This came during a meeting between Captain Ahmed Adel, chairman and CEO of EgyptAir Holding Company, and Captain George Kamal, acting director general and CEO of Kenya Airways, who also serves as chairman of the Executive Committee of the African Airlines Association (AFRAA).
The meeting was also attended by Abderahmane Berthé, secretary general of AFRAA, and Rabab Hamdy, head of Alliances Sector at EgyptAir Holding.
During the meeting, Captain Adel praised the pivotal role played by AFRAA in supporting and advancing the aviation sector across Africa.
He reaffirmed EgyptAir’s commitment to actively participating in initiatives and programmes that foster cooperation and integration among African airlines and make use of the continent’s aviation potential.

The discussions focused on boosting cooperation between EgyptAir and Kenya Airways. Both sides reviewed ways to develop existing partnerships, especially in operations and exchange of expertise, to benefit from the strong growth in Africa’s aviation market.

For his part, Berthé highlighted the promising growth prospects of Africa’s air transport industry, noting that further coordination and collaboration among African carriers remain essential.
He highlighted AFRAA’s ongoing efforts to expand partnerships and launch new initiatives in line with rapid changes in the aviation sector.
Kamal stressed the importance of making use of opportunities in the African market and called for joint efforts among airlines to achieve sustainable growth that benefits all stakeholders.
At the end of the meeting, Berthé presented a commemorative shield to Adel in recognition of EgyptAir’s prominent role in supporting the first edition of the MRO Africa Conference, reaffirming the airline’s contribution to strengthening integration among African carriers.
