Under the agreement, Basata will serve as an authorized payment channel for Infinity’s EV charging network, enabling users to pay and top up their digital wallets through the Basata application.
The partnership aims to simplify payment processes for EV users, with both companies seeking to integrate digital payment solutions into the growing charging ecosystem. Basata said the service will offer competitive transaction fees for users.
Infinity has been expanding its EV charging network since launching InfinityEV in 2018, which is the same year Egypt started gradually adopting electric vehicles. The company currently operates more than 250 charging stations and over 850 charging points across 18 governorates, according to company data.
Officials from both sides said the agreement is intended to support the wider adoption of electric vehicles in Egypt by improving accessibility to charging services and facilitating digital transactions.
The deal comes as Egypt steps up efforts to promote cleaner energy use and reduce emissions, including through investments in renewable energy and transport electrification, which has seen accelerated but still modest growth over the past eight years.
In 2025, EV sales reached around 8,000 units, expected to double to 15,000 units in 202, representing less than one percent of total vehicle sales.
The market was valued at $10.22 billion in 2024, projected to hit $20.08 billion by 2030 at a 12 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR).
