Egyptian Premier League side Masry have appointed Emad El-Nahhas as head coach following the departure of Tunisian Nabil Kouki.

El-Nahhas, 50, has extensive experience in the domestic league, having previously coached Arab Contractors, Aswan, and Ittihad of Alexandria, as well as top-flight side Ahly.

He enjoyed a notable spell with Ahly, guiding the team to six consecutive wins at the end of the 2024-25 season as they came from behind to secure a record-extending 45th league title.

Masry parted ways with Kouki less than 48 hours after a heavy defeat, 4-1, to league rivals Zamalek.

The Port Said-based club said in a statement that it had accepted a request from the 56-year-old to be “excused from continuing in his position as the team’s head coach”.

“The club would like to thank coach Kouki and the technical staff for their efforts with the team and wish them the best in their next step,” Masry said on their official Facebook page.

Masry are fifth in the table with 32 points, 14 behind leaders Zamalek, following Sunday’s defeat in the final phase of the competition.

El-Nahhas will take charge of his first match against Pyramids FC on 11 April.
