In a statement, the Egyptian foreign ministry expressed its full denunciation and condemnation of this brutal aggression, as well as the deliberate and systematic targeting of vital civilian facilities and infrastructure.
This aggression, the ministry said, constitutes a blatant violation of Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and a flagrant breach of the rules of international humanitarian law.
Egypt emphasized that these blatant Israeli violations, coming just one day after the US and Iran announced a ceasefire, completely contradict the constructive and positive spirit generated in the region following that announcement.
These violations reflect a premeditated intent to thwart the tireless efforts made by regional and international parties to de-escalate and prioritize dialogue and diplomacy.
Cairo called upon all influential regional and international actors to intervene immediately to stop this reckless and dangerous Israeli escalation, preventing the region from sliding into further violence and instability.
Egypt renewed its steadfast support and solidarity with Lebanon, stressing the necessity of respecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity, while categorically rejecting any attempts to destabilize its security or undermine its national institutions.
In the statement, the ministry noted that the Egyptian Embassy in Beirut is in contact with the Egyptian community to provide all necessary support.
The ministry confirmed that the condition of the Egyptian community members is reassuring so far, and the embassy has not recorded any reports of injuries among Egyptian nationals.
The statement comes as Israel has launched 130 airstrikes on Beirut and the rest of Lebanon earlier Wednesday, killing over 110 and wounding more than 870.
The strikes, which came hours after Washington and Tehran announced a ceasefire, took place as Israel and the US claimed the truce does not include Lebanon.
