During the meeting, which focused on regional developments, Abdelatty said the two-week truce should be used to open space for negotiations and help end the war, as regional powers push for de-escalation, according to a foreign ministry statement.

He also emphasized the need to seize this opportunity to advance diplomacy and reach broader understandings and end the war, while warning of the risks posed by continued instability.

The Egyptian minister stressed the importance of activating frameworks for joint Arab action, establishing effective implementation mechanisms, and adopting necessary preventive and defensive measures to safeguard Arab national security.

During the meeting, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s support for Kuwait, condemning attacks targeting its security, including the storming of the Kuwaiti consulate in Basra.

He said Egypt rejects any violations of Kuwaiti sovereignty or threats to Gulf states.

His Kuwaiti counterpart welcomed Egypt’s position and praised its role in efforts to ease tensions, promote regional stability, and strengthen Arab solidarity. He also emphasized the historic fraternal relations between the two nations.

The talks also covered ways to expand bilateral cooperation and strengthen economic and political ties.

Abdelatty arrived in Kuwait earlier on Wednesday for an official visit to coordinate positions following the ceasefire announcement.

During the visit, he also met Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and delivered a message of support from Egypt’s president Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to Emir Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, reaffirming Cairo’s solidarity and backing for Kuwait in the face of attacks against the country.
