In an interview with CNN, the Pakistani ambassador to the United States confirmed that, based on understandings reached at the highest levels of government, Lebanon is included in the ceasefire agreement brokered between the United States and Iran.

This confirmation came in the face of claims by US President Donald Trump and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu that ending the Israeli strikes in Lebanon "was not part of the deal."

The Pakistani confirmation comes as the Israeli occupation army carried out tens of airstrikes on residential buildings in Beirut and Lebanon that killed and wounded hundreds of people, in what was described by the Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih as 'a war of extermination against the Lebanese people."

The Lebanese Civil Defence reported that at least 254 people were killed and 1,165 wounded in the intensive Israeli airstrikes on Beirut and the rest of the country since the afternoon.

Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh acknowledged the fragility of the ceasefire but emphasized the credibility of the commitments made by the parties to the agreement, affirming that Pakistan's position on this matter is unequivocal.

Pakistan, along with Egypt and Turkey, has pushed intense diplomatic efforts to end the US-Israeli war on Iran, and the Iranian retaliatory strikes against US bases in the region and Arab Gulf countries.
