The Egyptian Red Crescent dispatched 4,945 tons of humanitarian supplies to the Gaza Strip on Thursday, as part of its longest-running aid operation since the strip's humanitarian crisis began.

The convoy was the 173rd sent under the “Zad Al-Izza… From Egypt to Gaza” campaign, Egypt’s primary mechanism for organizing the daily aid convoys.

It carried a broad range of critical supplies, including roughly 2,185 tons of food baskets and flour, more than 1,355 tons of relief and medical supplies.

The shipment also included over 1,405 tons of petroleum products earmarked for hospitals and essential facilities struggling to stay operational.

The ERC also dispatched 17,285 tents and more than 5,810 winter clothing items, as bitter conditions continue to compound the suffering of displaced Palestinians.

The Egyptian Red Crescent, which serves as the national coordinating body for Gaza-bound aid, says the Rafah crossing has remained open on the Egyptian side throughout the crisis.

Since the Israeli war began in October 2023, the organization has mobilized more than 65,000 volunteers and delivered upwards of 900,000 tons of humanitarian and relief supplies in total.

The latest convoy arrives as conditions in Gaza continue to deteriorate, marked by widespread displacement, acute shortages of food and fuel, and mounting pressure on the healthcare system.

Despite a ceasefire reached in October 2025, Israel continues to violate its terms, further exacerbating the already dire humanitarian situation in the strip.

Egypt, working in coordination with the United Nations and international partners, has led one of the largest and most sustained humanitarian relief operations into Gaza, despite continued access constraints and security challenges Israel imposes at the Palestinian side of crossing points.
