He stressed the importance of building on the ceasefire announcement as a key step toward advancing calm, prioritizing diplomacy and negotiations, and containing the deteriorating situation.
The Egyptian foreign minister also underscored the need for coordinated regional and international efforts to ensure the success of ongoing negotiations. He emphasized the need to consolidate the ceasefire to pave the way for a broader agreement between Washington and Tehran to end the conflict.
Moreover, the two sides discussed developments in Lebanon.
Abdelatty condemned Israeli strikes targeting multiple areas across the country. These attacks, he added, violated international law and undermined regional and international efforts to de-escalate the conflict.
Abdelatty emphasized respect for Lebanon’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. He called for an end to all Israeli attacks to safeguard regional stability and prevent further escalation.
Both sides agreed to continue consultations and efforts to reduce tensions and contain the situation.
They reaffirmed that political and diplomatic solutions remain the only viable path to avoid further instability in the region.
