A senior White House official said in a brief statement that the talks were continuing, after Iranian state media earlier reported that two rounds had taken place and a third was expected.

This high-stakes diplomatic summit, facilitated by Pakistani prime minister Shehbaz Sharif and chief of army staff Asim Munir, aims to secure a peace agreement to end the weeks-long conflict.
The White House also confirmed that a “full suite of US experts on relevant subject areas are present in Islamabad” and “additional experts are supporting from Washington.”

Tasnim’s correspondent in Islamabad reported on Saturday that, following initial rounds of talks and consultations, the two sides have moved beyond general frameworks and are now examining more specialized aspects of the negotiations.
Experts from both delegations are engaged in reviewing technical details in certain areas, marking a shift to a more focused stage of the dialogue.
The talks were initially scheduled to last one day, but there are indications they could be extended to allow for continued expert-level discussions. No final decision on an extension has been announced, according to Tasnim.
Earlier today, Tasnim reported that negotiations between Iran and the United States in Islamabad have entered a specialized expert phase, following a round of indirect negotiations mediated by Pakistan.
The US delegation led by Vice President Vance and an Iranian delegation led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf each met with Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif, according to Sharif’s office and Iranian media.
Israel will keep up war against Iran
Meanwhile, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel remains committed to carry out war against Iran, despite ongoing negotiations between the US and Iran.
“Israel under my leadership will continue to fight Iran’s terror regime and its proxies, unlike Erdogan who accommodates them and massacred his own Kurdish citizens,” Netanyahu, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity in the genocidal war on Gaza, wrote on social media.
Israel, which is not present at the US-Iran talks in Islamabad, has paused its strikes against Iran after ceasefire was reached between Washington and Tehran, but escalated its strikes on Lebanon.
The US and Israel had claimed that they did not agree to include Lebanon in the ceasefire despite confirmations from top Pakistani officials that a ceasefire in Lebanon between Hezbollah and Tel Aviv was part of the deal reached on Tuesday night.
On Wednesday, hours after the ceasefire was reached, Israel carried out full-fledged massacres in Lebanon as the Israeli army targetted residential buildings in Beirut, killing at least 356 and wounding nearly 1,200 civilians.
