Egypt has sent more than 5,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Gaza, as relief efforts continue amid shortages and stalled ceasefire talks.

The Egyptian Red Crescent said on Monday it dispatched over 5,060 tonnes of supplies through its latest Zad El-Ezza: From Egypt to Gaza convoy, the 175th since the start of the war.

The shipment included food, flour, relief items, and fuel intended to support hospitals and essential infrastructure in the enclave.

It also carried winter assistance for displaced families, including around 20,795 items of clothing, 2,305 blankets, and 11,850 tents.

Egypt has maintained large-scale aid deliveries to Gaza throughout the conflict, with the ERC acting as the main coordination body. The organization said it has kept logistics hubs on high alert and maintained operations at the border.

It added that the Rafah crossing remains open from the Egyptian side, allowing aid to enter. Total deliveries have surpassed 900,000 tonnes, supported by 65,000 volunteers.

The latest convoy comes as an international flotilla prepares to sail from Barcelona towards Gaza in an effort to deliver aid by sea and challenge the Israeli naval blockade, in place since 2007.

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC), co-organizers of the mission, say it involves dozens of vessels carrying supplies and activists, with departures staggered due to weather conditions and more boats expected to join along the route.

Israeli occupation forces have intercepted previous flotilla attempts; they have also arrested, abused, and detained flotilla participants over the last three attempts, and targeted two other attempts in recent history, heavily damaging the boats and killing participants.

The planned voyage comes as ceasefire negotiations remain stalled despite mediation efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States.

Access to aid remains a key sticking point, particularly for fuel and medical supplies, which humanitarian agencies say are critically short.

Conditions in Gaza remain severe, with shortages of food, clean water, and electricity, and hospitals struggling to operate amid ongoing damage and limited resources.
