The meeting was held upon directives from Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and brought together senior representatives to exchange views on ongoing regional challenges and mechanisms to address them.

Participants stressed the importance of achieving security and stability based on established international principles, including respect for state sovereignty, territorial integrity, non-interference in internal affairs, and the right of peoples to self-determination.

According to the Pakistani Foreign Ministry, the meeting was intended as a follow-up to talks held by the foreign ministers of these four nations on 29 March in Islamabad.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry reported that deliberations at the meeting will be submitted for consideration at the Foreign Ministers’ meeting of the four countries in Antalya, Turkey, on April 17.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar received the delegations of the four countries, where discussions focused on the latest regional developments.

Dar reviewed Pakistan’s efforts to promote de-escalation between the United States and Iran and exchanged views with representatives from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey on ways to move forward in reducing tensions, containing the situation, and restoring regional security and stability.

On Wednesday, a Pakistani delegation led by army chief Asim Munir arrived in Tehran days after failed US-Iran talks in Islamabad to end the Middle East war.

Iranian state TV had reported earlier that the high-ranking Pakistani delegation would bring a new message from Washington and was due to discuss a second round of talks.

Iran had confirmed on Wednesday that the sides had continued talking via Pakistan after a first round of talks in the Pakistani capital fell flat over the weekend.
