The meeting, held on the sidelines of the World Bank and IMF Spring Meetings in Washington and attended by Planning Minister Ahmed Rustom, addressed ways to enhance cooperation in advancing development efforts across Africa.
Abdelatty highlighted Egypt’s growing engagement in supporting countries of the southern Nile Basin, reviewing ongoing development initiatives aimed at strengthening infrastructure and promoting sustainable growth in those states.
He pointed in particular to the launch of a dedicated financing mechanism designed to study and implement priority development and infrastructure projects in Nile Basin countries, reflecting Egypt’s commitment to fostering stability and development in the region.
The foreign minister also stressed the importance of expanding trilateral cooperation between Egypt, BADEA, and African countries to leverage Egypt’s accumulated expertise in executing development projects across the continent, while enhancing the bank’s participation in Egyptian-led initiatives in Africa.
For his part, Al-Musaibih praised Egypt’s role in advancing Arab-African cooperation and supporting development across the continent, noting that Cairo remains a key partner in the bank’s efforts to promote sustainable development and strengthen economic ties between Arab and African countries.
