During a phone call, both sides reviewed the latest developments in the region and explored ways to coordinate joint efforts between the two countries.

The two ministers also exchanged views on the course of negotiations between the United States and Iran, within the framework of ongoing consultation and coordination aimed at de-escalating tensions, according to the statement.

They underscored the importance of accelerating the resumption of talks between Washington and Tehran to help reduce escalation and contain the conflict, given the gravity of the current situation and its implications for regional peace and security.

A day earlier, Egypt’s Assistant Foreign Minister for Political Planning, Nazih El-Nagary, participated in a quadrilateral meeting of senior officials from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Türkiye in Islamabad to discuss regional developments and efforts to restore stability.

The meeting included exchanges of views on regional challenges and mechanisms to address them. Participants stressed the importance of security and stability based on established international principles, including respect for state sovereignty, territorial integrity, non-interference in internal affairs, and the right of peoples to self-determination.

According to the Pakistani Foreign Ministry, the consultations followed discussions held by the foreign ministers of the four countries on 29 March in Islamabad, with outcomes expected to be presented at a ministerial meeting scheduled in Antalya, Turkey, over the weekend.

Egypt has recently stepped up diplomatic engagement with regional and international partners as part of efforts to support de-escalation and maintain open channels of communication among relevant parties.
