Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty
Abdelatty is set to join a quadrilateral meeting with his counterparts from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey to discuss “the progress of US-Iran negotiations and ways to ease regional tensions,” read the statement.
The top Egyptian diplomat will also participate in an eight-party ministerial meeting on developments in the Gaza Strip.
The meeting brings together a diplomatic framework of Arab and Islamic foreign ministers mandated by the Extraordinary Joint Arab-Islamic Summit, held in Riyadh in November 2023, to coordinate efforts to halt the Israeli war in Gaza.
On the sidelines of the forum, Abdelatty is expected to hold bilateral talks with senior officials to discuss regional and international issues and efforts to support security and stability, the statement added.
The three-day event, running from Friday to Sunday, is hosted by Turkey’s foreign ministry under the auspices of President Tayyip Erdogan and held under the theme “Mapping Tomorrow, Managing Uncertainties”.
Launched in 2021, the forum has become a regular fixture in Turkey’s diplomatic calendar, positioning itself as a platform for dialogue among countries from the Global South, the Muslim world, and beyond.
