The convoy, launched early in the day, included a number of trucks transporting comprehensive humanitarian assistance as part of Egypt’s continued efforts to coordinate aid deliveries to Gaza.
Shipments comprised food baskets, flour, relief supplies, personal care items, and fuel needed to operate hospitals and vital facilities, alongside blankets, clothing, mattresses, and tents to shelter displaced residents.
The ERC has maintained a continuous presence at the Rafah border crossing since the start of the war, keeping the crossing open from the Egyptian side and sustaining operations across its logistics network.
Humanitarian assistance delivered through Egypt has now exceeded 900,000 tonnes, with more than 65,000 volunteers facilitating the flow of aid into the enclave.
The latest data from UN agencies underscores the scale of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. UN Women said on Friday that more than 38,000 women and girls have been killed since October 2023, accounting for over half of the 72,000 total deaths recorded by Gaza health authorities, with an average of at least 47 women and girls killed daily.
The agency added that nearly 11,000 women and girls have suffered life-altering injuries, while close to one million have been repeatedly displaced. Around 790,000 face crisis-level or catastrophic food insecurity, reflecting the collapse of basic living conditions across the enclave.
The war has also reshaped family structures, with tens of thousands of households now headed by women following the loss of primary breadwinners, often without access to stable income or essential services.
Recent developments have further strained humanitarian access. UN officials say regional escalation, including tensions linked to the US-Israeli confrontation with Iran, has contributed to tighter border restrictions and reduced aid flows into Gaza.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that at least eight Palestinians were killed and 24 were injured in the past 24 hours. Since a ceasefire was declared on 11 October, fatalities have risen to 773, with more than 2,171 injuries reported, while hundreds of bodies remain trapped under rubble or in inaccessible areas.
