According to the Egyptian presidency, El-Sisi praised the democratic atmosphere surrounding the electoral process and reaffirmed Egypt’s pride in its longstanding relations with Hungary.

He highlighted the momentum bilateral ties have gained in recent years, particularly after their elevation to a strategic partnership in February 2023.

The Egyptian president also expressed Cairo’s eagerness to work closely with the new Hungarian government once it is formed to strengthen bilateral cooperation further and enhance political consultations.

For his part, Magyar voiced appreciation for El-Sisi’s call, expressing his keenness to deepen Egyptian-Hungarian relations across various sectors.

He also underlined the importance of intensifying coordination on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Additionally, he commended Egypt’s role in promoting security and stability in the Middle East and the southern Mediterranean.

Hungary and Egypt officially established a strategic partnership on 28 February 2023, during a high-level visit by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to Cairo.

In the April 2026 Hungarian elections, Péter Magyar and his center-right Tisza Party achieved a historic landslide victory, defeating Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and ending his 16-year tenure.

This election is widely regarded as a major political turning point for Hungary, with near-complete results showing a shift away from Orbán’s long-standing rule
