While Labour Day is globally recognized on 1 May, the official holiday was moved because the date falls on a Friday, already a standard day off in Egypt.
This decision aligns with the government's policy, established in 2020, of shifting midweek or weekend holidays to Thursday. By doing so, the cabinet ensures citizens can enjoy an extended, uninterrupted weekend.
