The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) launched its 181st “Zad Al-Izza” convoy to Gaza on Thursday, carrying more than 5,480 tons of humanitarian aid, while also preparing to receive the 37th batch of wounded and sick Palestinians at the Rafah crossing, the organization said.

The convoy, part of Egypt’s ongoing relief efforts for the Gaza Strip, includes food supplies, medical assistance, and fuel.

According to the ERC, the shipment comprises more than 2,610 tons of food baskets and flour, about 1,365 tons of medical and relief supplies and personal care items, and over 1,505 tons of fuel to help run hospitals and essential facilities in Gaza.

The organization also continues to facilitate the entry and exit of Palestinian patients, injured individuals, and their companions at the Rafah crossing, while streamlining procedures and providing services such as hot meals, clothing, hygiene supplies, and “return kits” for those returning to Gaza.

As part of its role as Egypt’s national mechanism for coordinating humanitarian aid to Gaza, the ERC has expanded deliveries of basic shelter items, including blankets, tarpaulins, and tents, to support displaced families.

The organization has maintained a continuous presence at the border since the start of the Israeli war on Gaza, affirming that the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing has remained open, with operations supported by a network of logistics centres and tens of thousands of volunteers.

Meanwhile, Israeli military operations in Gaza are ongoing, with air and ground attacks reported in several areas despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation.

This week, several Palestinians were killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza City, Bureij camp, and Khan Younis, with the Israeli military expanding ground operations, pushing buffer zones deeper into the territory, and carrying out demolitions and military construction.

The United Nations and humanitarian agencies warned that continued Israeli offensives have resulted in further civilian casualties and are worsening the humanitarian situation and aid access in an already heavily damaged territory.
