The 40-year-old, who had played the entire first half of a friendly game at Ungwan Yelwa, reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest five minutes into the second half. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi expressed shock at the news.

“This is devastating. I am short of words at this moment. I can only pray that God will grant him eternal rest and also grant his loved ones and the Nigeria football family the fortitude to bear the loss,” Sanusi said.

Born on 26 November 1985 in Kaduna, Eneramo earned 10 caps for Nigeria’s Super Eagles, scoring three goals between 2009 and 2011.

Eneramo scored a memorable goal in Nigeria’s 2-2 draw with Tunisia in Abuja in September 2009.

At the club level, he enjoyed a successful career in Tunisia and Turkey, notably with Espérance Sportive de Tunis. He also featured for Turkish sides Beşiktaş, Sivasspor, and Istanbul Başakşehir.

Eneramo retired from professional football in 2018 and was reportedly running a football academy before his death.
