Speaking to Qahera News TV channel, the Cypriot presidency affirmed that Egypt’s participation also gives the summit strong political momentum and sends a powerful message of regional unity.
Egypt’s presence, the Cypriot presidency noted, reflects growing coordination with the European Union (EU), explaining that the meeting represents a real opportunity to unify positions with Cairo on various issues.
The Cypriot Presidency also stressed that Egypt and Cyprus are effectively leading the path of cooperation in the Eastern Mediterranean, describing Cairo as a “pivotal partner” that is indispensable in addressing complex regional challenges.
It added that Egypt’s participation reflects its significant weight in the regional security equation and praised its active role in advancing regional dialogue and strengthening the foundations of stability.
Cyprus further commended the efforts of the Egyptian leadership in containing the repercussions of successive crises in the region, emphasizing that Egypt’s vision remains a key pillar in ensuring security and cooperation among regional countries and the EU institutions.
The statements came as President El-Sisi arrived in the Cypriot capital, Nicosia, to participate in the meeting, at the invitation of his Cypriot counterpart, Nicos Christodoulides, and President of the European Council António Costa.
