According to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA), one person was killed, and three others were wounded in an airstrike on the town of Burj Qalaouiyah in southern Lebanon, with rescue teams still searching for missing persons.
The agency added that Israeli air raids also targeted several towns, including Kfar Tebnit, Kounine, and Choukine in the Nabatieh governorate.
An Israeli warplane strike also destroyed a mosque in the town of Zawtar Al-Sharqiya in the same region.
In a separate development, Israeli forces carried out demolitions of homes and infrastructure between the towns of Yaroun and Bint Jbeil, according to the agency.
It also reported that the Nabatieh region in southern Lebanon witnessed heavy displacement on Sunday following earlier warnings from the Israeli army for residents to evacuate seven villages north of the Litani River.
On Saturday, Lebanon’s Health Ministry said that Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon killed seven people and injured 24 others, including three children.
The latest escalation followed orders from Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the military to intensify strikes on what Israel claims are Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.
The move is seen as a challenge to the ceasefire announced by US President Donald Trump, who announced on Thursday that a 10-day truce in Lebanon that began on April 17 had been extended for three weeks.
In response, Hezbollah said it launched a swarm of drones targeting an Israeli artillery position in the Al-Bayada area of southern Lebanon, citing Israeli violations of the ceasefire and attacks on civilians.
Lebanon’s Ministry of Health said on Saturday that the death toll from Israeli attacks since the start of the war on 2 March has risen to 2,496, with 7,725 others injured.
The ministry added that more than 120,000 displaced people are currently sheltering in evacuation centres, with approximately 31,000 families taking refuge in these facilities.
