Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation has finalized its operational plan for the 1447 AH / 2026 Hajj season, aiming to ensure smooth, safe travel for tens of thousands of pilgrims.
The plan, implemented in coordination with affiliated companies and relevant state bodies, prioritizes efficient flight operations and improved airport services, with particular attention to elderly pilgrims and those with disabilities.
Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh Elhefny reviewed the preparations alongside the CEO and Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company, Ahmed Adel, and senior aviation officials, highlighting efforts to enhance operational efficiency and streamline the travel experience.

A total of 277 outbound flights have been scheduled, including 127 to Madinah and 150 to Jeddah, to transport around 62,600 pilgrims. These include travellers under the Ministry of Interior lottery scheme (25,200 pilgrims), the Social Solidarity programme (5,700 pilgrims), tourism Hajj packages (12,000 pilgrims), transit passengers (10,000 pilgrims), and charter flight pilgrims (9,600 pilgrims), including those from Bamako and Conakry and pilgrims of Palestinian Airlines, in addition to individual travellers. The total number of pilgrims from Egypt this season is expected to reach about 67,000.
EgyptAir has confirmed the readiness of the Seasonal Terminal at Cairo International Airport and completed coordination with all operating entities to ensure adequate staffing and equipment, from check-in through to on-time departures.

Authorities have also intensified coordination with Hajj-organizing bodies and Saudi partners to streamline operations and address potential challenges during both departure and return phases.
As part of service upgrades, EgyptAir will expand its “baggage-free passenger” system. Already in place at Madinah Airport, the service will be introduced in Jeddah for the first time, allowing pilgrims’ luggage to be delivered directly to their accommodation upon arrival. After the completion of the Hajj rituals, baggage will be collected from residences and transferred to the return flights.
Officials said the plan adheres to international operational standards and reflects broader efforts to maintain regular air traffic, strengthen airport efficiency, and ensure a seamless pilgrimage journey.
