Held over the weekend, 24 and 25 April, the event drew a notable turnout, welcoming families of all ages into an immersive cultural setting designed to be both engaging and educational.

Set against the museum’s expansive outdoor spaces, the event featured a vibrant mix of interactive workshops, creative arts activities, recreational games, and live performances. Visitors also enjoyed a variety of food options, creating a lively, festival-like atmosphere that blended learning with leisure.

The initiative reflects a broader shift towards experiential tourism, inviting audiences to engage with history beyond traditional exhibition halls.

Speaking on the occasion, Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the GEM Authority, said the event aligns with the institution’s vision to position itself as a comprehensive cultural destination.

He added that GEM Family Day aims to strengthen the connection between visitors—particularly families—and Egypt’s rich historical legacy by presenting it in a dynamic and accessible format.

Ghoneim noted that such initiatives play a key role in reinforcing the museum’s status as a global tourism hub. Beyond showcasing antiquities, the museum is increasingly focused on offering interactive, contemporary experiences that cater to diverse audiences, supporting national efforts to diversify Egypt’s tourism offerings.

The event also aligns with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities’ strategy to promote cultural tourism and raise public awareness of heritage preservation. By introducing innovative visitor experiences, the ministry aims to meet evolving expectations while ensuring the long-term sustainability of Egypt’s tourism sector.
