During a phone call, El-Sisi highlighted growing cooperation between the two countries, particularly in education, noting that Egypt was looking to expand the Egyptian-Japanese Schools programme.
He also pointed to Japan’s role in supporting major projects, including the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).
He expressed his anticipation of welcoming the Japanese premier to Egypt soon to discuss ways to boost bilateral cooperation in various fields, including increasing investments and expanding Japanese tourism to Egypt.
El-Sisi congratulated the prime minister on her party’s victory in February’s general election.
The Japanese leader said Tokyo was committed to strengthening its strategic partnership with Egypt and would continue supporting development projects, according to the Egyptian presidency.
The call also covered regional crises, including the US-Israeli war on Iran, with both sides stressing the need for a political solution to avoid further escalation and limit the impact on the global economy.
El-Sisi said Egypt supported the security and sovereignty of Gulf states, Iraq, and Jordan amid the ongoing regional conflict.
He also outlined Cairo’s efforts to advance a ceasefire in Gaza and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid.
The Japanese prime minister expressed support for Egypt’s role in regional diplomacy and said her government was keen to maintain coordination with Cairo on regional and international issues.
