The meeting, attended by the company’s CEO Pakinam Kafafi, focused on aligning these efforts with Egypt’s strategy to increase EV adoption and gradually replace fossil fuel-powered vehicles.

Discussions also covered the company’s green energy solutions aimed at helping industrial facilities comply with international environmental standards, particularly the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). These efforts are expected to enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian exports while ensuring reliable energy supplies for the industrial sector and supporting the transition to renewable energy.

Hashem stressed that Egypt is pursuing an integrated strategy to reduce reliance on conventional fuels in electricity generation.

He highlighted ongoing coordination with the Ministry of Electricity to enforce regulations requiring new factories to secure at least 25 percent of their electricity needs from solar power as a condition for operating licenses.

He also urged existing, energy-intensive facilities to scale up their use of renewable sources.

The minister added that, alongside Egypt’s industrial map outlining production capabilities, work is underway on a comprehensive energy map designed to balance industrial expansion with sustainable energy availability.

The approach, he said, involves close cooperation with investors and industry stakeholders to develop transparent frameworks that meet operational needs while improving efficiency and sustainability.

The meeting further explored innovative technical solutions to maximize space utilization in industrial facilities, including elevated solar systems that allow land beneath them to be used for service or agricultural activities, as well as integrating solar panels into building facades to boost self-generation capacity.

These initiatives aim to optimize resource use, support compliance with international environmental standards, particularly CBAM, and strengthen the global competitiveness of Egyptian industry.

For her part, Kafafi said Egypt has strong potential to become a regional hub for green energy, praising the government’s strategic direction toward accelerating the transition to a green economy.

She emphasized that cooperation between the public and private sectors is essential to overcoming current challenges, reaffirming the company’s commitment to providing integrated and sustainable energy solutions to support Egypt’s industrial sector and enhance its global standing.
