On 24 March, the 33-year-old Pharaohs skipper confirmed his departure in an emotional Instagram video, bringing to a close a nine-year spell with the Reds in which he scored 255 goals in 435 appearances—placing him third on the club’s all-time list—and helped deliver multiple major trophies.
During an interview with Sky Sports posted on Friday, Salah watched the heartfelt short messages from the Premier League stars and coaches with a smile, as all the participants hailed his great impact and wished him the best of luck in his next step.
"Wow. Time flies. You leave with a smile on your face, and you leave loved by so many people," said Liverpool’s former coach Jurgen Klopp, who was Salah’s partner in the success he achieved with Liverpool.
"The best thing you can do is to work hard and put everything in, so that when we meet in the future—in five, 10, 15, 20 years—we look back and share the best memories of our lives," the German coach concluded.
Liverpool’s departing defender, Andrew Robertson, also sent an emotional message to Salah, saying, “We started together and we are going to end this incredible journey together. It’s been a fantastic nine years watching our kids grow up together and watching our families grow together.”
“It has been an amazing time. I have taken so much from you. You gave me some of the highest highs of my life. I think you have been a fantastic person for this football club. You have always stayed humble. You have always stayed loyal and I think that is the most special thing about you,” he added.
Liverpool said Salah, who is currently on the sidelines due to injury, had “reached an agreement” to leave a year before his contract expires, departing on a free transfer after cutting short a two-year extension signed in April 2025.
Speculation over his next destination has intensified, particularly around a potential move to Saudi Arabia, although his agent has said no decision has been made regarding his future.
