Hospitals across the enclave received the bodies of seven people and treated around 27 wounded over the past 24 hours, local sources said, reflecting the continued human toll despite a ceasefire that took effect earlier this month.
Since the ceasefire on 11 October 2026, at least 828 Palestinians have been killed and more than 2,342 injured by continuing Israeli attacks, medical officials reported to WAFA. Over the same period, 767 bodies have been retrieved from previously inaccessible areas.
Thousands more victims are believed to remain trapped beneath collapsed buildings or lying in the streets, with emergency responders unable to reach them due to a lack of heavy equipment and resources needed for debris removal and rescue operations.
The ongoing difficulty in accessing affected areas has compounded the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where large parts of the territory have been devastated and basic services severely disrupted.
Israel controls all entry points to Gaza, and has been accused by the United Nations and foreign NGOs of strangling the flow of goods into the territory, causing shortages since the start of the war in October 2023.
There have been repeated warnings that shortages of medical supplies, fuel, and clean water are worsening conditions for civilians, while overstretched hospitals continue to struggle to cope with the influx of casualties.
