“I extend my deepest condolences to the Egyptian people and the lovers of authentic art upon the passing of the artist Hany Shaker, who enriched the art of singing with the finest creative works on all national, social, and humanitarian occasions through his iconic voice and polished performance,” El-Sisi wrote on his official Facebook page.

The president further stated: “May Allah have mercy on the great artist and grant his family and loved ones patience and solace.”

For his part, Egypt’s Ambassador to France, Tarek Dahroug, affirmed that the Egyptian Embassy and the Consulate General in Paris are closely following up, in full coordination with the relevant French authorities, on all necessary procedures to transfer Shaker’s body to his homeland as soon as possible.

Speaking to the Middle East News Agency (MENA), Dahroug added that Egypt’s Consul General in Paris, Ambassador Tamer Tawfik, has formed a working team to facilitate the immediate completion of legal and administrative procedures.

He confirmed that the Consul General is in continuous contact with Shaker’s family to remove all obstacles and provide all possible support in this painful time.

The Egyptian diplomat further emphasized that the state is keen to honour its sons in a manner befitting their history and great artistic contributions.

“Today we are not only losing an artist, but a symbol of Egypt’s soft power, and a voice that engraved its name in gold in the hearts of Arab peoples from the Gulf to the Ocean," the ambassador said.

Dahroug extended his sincere condolences to the family of the late artist and to his fans in Egypt and the Arab world.

Born in December 1952 in Cairo, Shaker is widely known as the Prince of Arab Singing.

The late singer is considered one of Egypt’s most prominent musical figures with a career spanning more than five decades. He left an indelible mark on the Arab music scene.
