Abdelatty stressed the importance of supporting diplomatic efforts and dialogue to reach “mutually acceptable understandings” that address the concerns of all parties, according to a foreign ministry statement.
He said such efforts could help consolidate a ceasefire, end ongoing conflicts and restore regional security and stability.
The call comes as diplomatic contacts between Washington and Tehran remain fragile, amid rising tensions over security in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has warned against any US military involvement in the strategic waterway after US President Donald Trump said Washington would help escort stranded vessels through the strait.
The two ministers also reviewed regional and international developments and agreed to maintain coordination and consultations in the coming period in support of efforts aimed at restoring stability in the region.
The call additionally touched on bilateral ties between Egypt and Russia, including cooperation in tourism and ongoing joint development projects, with both sides expressing a desire to deepen their strategic partnership across multiple sectors.
