The ministry said the measures come as part of ongoing efforts to tighten oversight of private healthcare facilities and ensure compliance with national health standards and protocols.

Spokesperson Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar stated that technical inspection committees from the Free Treatment Directorate in Giza identified patient safety violations during a recent review.

As a result, the ministry ordered a one-month suspension of obstetrics and gynaecology procedures at the hospital, with emergency cases exempted.

The decision was taken due to the hospital’s failure to adhere to safe natural childbirth guidelines, particularly the mandatory use of the Robson classification system and the partogram, both essential tools for monitoring labour and documenting medical justification for surgical intervention.

Separately, Hisham Zaki, head of the Central Administration for Free Treatment and Licensing, confirmed that the second-floor inpatient ward, comprising 20 rooms, has been sealed for violating licensing requirements and infection control standards.

The ministry stressed it will continue to take firm action to curb medically unjustified caesarean sections and safeguard maternal and child health, in accordance with Law No. 51 of 1981 and its amendments.

It also urged all private healthcare providers to strictly adhere to professional standards, affirming that inspection campaigns will continue to ensure safe and high-quality medical services for citizens.
