The vessel was built at the Ningde Tai Jinzhou Yuajin Shipyard and is owned by a consortium comprising El Temsah Shipbuilding Company, Canal Mooring and Lights Company, and Canal Ropes Company.
Fakhr 1 is the fourth vessel in the petroleum services fleet operated by El Temsah Shipbuilding, an SCA subsidiary. The fleet also includes the vessels Aman, Ahmed Fadel, and Badr.
Rabie said the vessel is designed in line with the latest global technologies for energy-efficient marine operations. It is equipped to support diving activities and features a DP2 dynamic positioning system, allowing it to maintain its position without deploying anchors.
The vessel measures 64.8 metres in length, 16 metres in width, with a draft of 5 metres, and can accommodate a crew of up to 60 personnel.
Rabie noted that Fakhr 1 represents a culmination of the authority’s efforts to strengthen and expand its marine fleet and diversify revenue streams by supporting oil and gas exploration activities with advanced service units.
He added that the vessel has completed sea and dock trials at the Chinese shipyard in the presence of representatives from El Temsah Shipbuilding and the American Bureau of Shipping.
The SCA chief said preparations for the vessel’s delivery and entry into service will begin upon its arrival early next month.
