The call underscored growing regional concerns about the risks of escalation, as Cairo reaffirmed its support for Gulf allies and called for diplomatic efforts to contain tensions.

El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s “strong condemnation” of the attack and affirmed full solidarity with the UAE, backing its efforts to confront the assault, Presidency Spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy said.

The Egyptian president also stressed the need to intensify efforts to resolve the crisis and avoid further escalation, warning of serious repercussions for regional security and stability.

On Monday, Iranian missile and drone attacks targeted several civilian areas and critical infrastructure in the UAE, which Abu Dhabi called a “dangerous escalation” and a violation of international law, according to state news agency WAM.

The UAE said the strikes injured civilians and underscored a direct threat to its sovereignty and territorial integrity, stressing it “will not tolerate” such actions and reserving the right to respond in line with international law.

The reported attacks come amid heightened tensions around key energy and maritime corridors, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic chokepoint for global oil shipments.

Recent incidents involving energy facilities and commercial vessels have raised concerns over the security of supply routes and the risk of broader regional escalation.

The developments have prompted swift regional and international reactions, with several countries expressing solidarity with the UAE and warning of the potential impact on regional stability and global energy markets.
