The telecommunication authority "has officially communicated with all telecom companies to immediately begin applying the block on pornography websites", said Lara al-Khatib, a top official in the authority.
She told AFP that the move targeted all websites that are "harmful, pornographic or violate legislation", adding that it came to "confront the risks of fraud, deception and exploitation".
Lawmaker Dima Tahboub of the Islah parliamentary bloc, an Islamist grouping, welcomed the decision, saying in a post on Facebook: "This is a critical issue that I had raised in October 2025 and asked the government to block websites and protect our communities."
