Nasser Maher cancelled out Mohamed Reda’s 30th-minute opener with a 36th-minute equaliser as Pyramids dropped crucial points in the three-horse race.

They slipped to second place with 51 points, two behind leaders Zamalek, who beat Smouha 1-0. Ahly are third on 50 points and will be hoping for a final-day slip-up.

The opening stages were closely contested, with both sides seeking control. Pyramids created the first real chance when Fiston Mayele had the ball in the net, but the effort was ruled out for offside.

That scare prompted a response from Ceramica, who grew into the game and began to dominate midfield without creating clear-cut chances.

After a neat passing move, Ayman Mokka broke into the box from the right and squared for Reda, who finished at the near post in the 30th minute.

Ceramica nearly doubled their lead soon after, with Ragab Nabil’s header striking the crossbar and Amr El Soulia’s long-range effort denied by goalkeeper Ahmed El Shenawy.

Pyramids responded quickly, as Mayele latched onto a long ball and set up Maher to score from close range.

The visitors stepped up after the break and controlled much of the second half. Coach Krunoslav Jurcic sought to increase attacking pressure by introducing Ahmed Atef and Marwan Hamdy, while Ceramica dropped deeper.

Despite sustained pressure through Mayele, Maher and Atef, Pyramids struggled to break down a compact Ceramica defence.

At the other end, Fagrie Lakay, now leading the line alone, had a late chance but was denied by El Shenawy, ensuring the points were shared.

Pyramids face Smouha in the final round, while Ceramica take on Zamalek in what could prove decisive in the title race.
