During a meeting in Cairo with David Morrison, senior adviser to the Canadian prime minister, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s appreciation for its strong ties with Canada, expressing a desire to expand cooperation, particularly in economic and trade sectors.

He encouraged Canadian companies to increase investments in Egypt, especially in energy, agriculture, and water resources, citing the country’s investment incentives and favourable business environment.

The discussions also covered regional developments, with Abdelatty outlining Egypt’s efforts to contain tensions and stressing the need to prioritise diplomatic solutions.

He reiterated Cairo’s support for ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran as a means to de-escalate tensions, preserve freedom of navigation, and address the security concerns of regional states, particularly Gulf countries.

On the Palestinian issue, Abdelatty emphasised the importance of advancing the second phase of the ceasefire, proposed by US President Donald Trump, including the activation of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) from within the enclave and the swift deployment of an international stabilisation force to support the transitional phase.

He also strongly condemned ongoing Israeli violations in the occupied West Bank.

Morrison, for his part, praised Egypt’s active role in promoting regional stability and its efforts to contain crises and advance peaceful settlements.

In a separate phone call, Abdelatty discussed regional developments with Gunter Sautter, Germany's national security adviser.

He commended the strong ties between Egypt and Germany and highlighted the shared interest in advancing cooperation across various sectors, particularly economic and trade relations.

Abdelatty briefed the German official on Egypt’s ongoing efforts to de-escalate regional tensions, again underscoring the importance of continuing US-Iran negotiations and emphasising that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path forward.

Sautter, in turn, expressed appreciation for Egypt’s role in supporting regional security and stability, voicing Berlin’s interest in further strengthening bilateral relations and maintaining close consultation and coordination with Cairo.
