The carrier said it would transport about 5,000 pilgrims from Guinea on 16 direct flights between Conakry and Saudi Arabia.

The first flight departed Conakry International Airport aboard a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner carrying 309 passengers to Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina.

Outbound flights are scheduled to continue until May 16, with return services running from 2 June to 15 June.

EgyptAir is also operating 12 direct flights for around 3,700 pilgrims from Mali.

Flights from Bamako to Medina began on May 6 and are due to continue until 12 May, with return flights scheduled between 1 June and 12 June.

The airline said it would also operate two flights from Cairo to Jeddah on 13 and 14 May to transport 450 Palestinian pilgrims currently in Egypt. The return flight is scheduled for 6 June.

The flights are part of EgyptAir’s seasonal Hajj operations, which expand each year to accommodate pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia from Egypt and other countries in Africa and the Middle East.
