In a statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cairo expressed full backing for the security and legal measures taken by Kuwaiti authorities to protect the country and its people, preserve its sovereignty, and confront any actions targeting its stability.
The statement also reiterated Egypt’s “firm and steadfast” support for Kuwait and stressed its categorical rejection of any attempts to destabilize Gulf countries or undermine their sovereignty.
Earlier on Tuesday, Kuwait's interior ministry said it had arrested four people affiliated with Iran's Revolutionary Guards who attempted to infiltrate the Gulf state by sea via Bubiyan Island, the state news agency KUNA reported.
The attempt resulted in a clash with Kuwaiti forces and the injury of a serviceman.
