The Palestinian Ministry of Health identified the victim as 16-year-old Yusuf Kaabneh, adding that four other Palestinians were injured by rubber bullets and in physical assaults during an attack by Israeli settlers, carried out under the protection of Israeli forces, on the villages of Sinjil, Jaljiliya, and Abwein north of Ramallah.
Local sources said dozens of armed settlers stormed Palestinian homes in the area, pursued shepherds, and stole livestock.
According to the WAFA news agency, residents confronted the attackers as the violence spread across multiple villages.
The sources added that the Israeli settlers stole around 700 sheep during the assault on Sinjil village. They also reported that settlers attacked homes on the outskirts of Jaljiliya village, where they stole additional livestock and agricultural equipment.
Israeli violence has increased in the West Bank since the start of the war in Gaza in October 2023.
According to an AFP tally based on Palestinian health ministry figures, Israeli troops or settlers have killed at least 1,071 Palestinians in the West Bank since the war began.
On Tuesday, the United Nations condemned the toll from swelling Israeli military operations and settler attacks in the occupied West Bank on children, with 70 Palestinian children killed since early 2025.
"Children are paying an intolerable price for escalating military operations and settler attacks across the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem," UN children's agency spokesman James Elder told reporters.
Separately, Israeli troops carried out raids across several areas of the occupied West Bank early Wednesday, detaining dozens of Palestinians, including a 15-year-old boy. According to local reports, several detainees were subjected to field interrogations, while homes and a school were also searched.
At the same time, dozens of Israeli settlers entered the area of the Tomb of Joseph east of Nablus under heavy Israeli military protection to perform religious rituals, prompting heightened security measures.
The incidents come amid a reported rise in settler attacks on Palestinian residents and property across the West Bank in recent weeks. The Nablus Directorate of Education said school openings were delayed due to the raids and accompanying military operations.
