The forum was attended by Eritrea’s Foreign Minister Osman Saleh, and Hagos Gebrehiwet, economic advisor to the Eritrean President, alongside Eritrea’s Minister of Trade and Industry Nesredin Bekit and a delegation of Egyptian and Eritrean business leaders.
In his remarks, FM Abdelatty stressed that President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi has directed efforts to deepen economic and commercial ties with Eritrea across various sectors in a way that serves the mutual interests of both countries.
He highlighted recent high-level visits by Eritrean officials to Cairo, which included productive discussions with Egyptian counterparts, noting that the outcomes of those meetings helped pave the way for the current forum.
He also underlined Egypt’s commitment to expanding cooperation in key sectors including transport, construction, pharmaceuticals, mining, fisheries, railways, and logistics, in addition to supporting Eritrea’s development efforts.
Abdelatty emphasized the importance of continued technical assistance, capacity-building programmes, and training initiatives for Eritrean professionals, as well as encouraging greater participation of Egyptian private sector companies in the Eritrean market and boosting Egyptian exports.

For his part, Hagos Gebrehiwet expressed Eritrea’s appreciation for the growing strength of relations with Egypt, affirming Asmara’s commitment to further cooperation and to benefiting from Egypt’s extensive development expertise to advance shared interests.
The meeting also featured extensive discussions between Egyptian and Eritrean business representatives on available investment opportunities, potential joint projects, and mechanisms to overcome obstacles facing the business community.
Egyptian officials reiterated the state’s commitment to supporting Egyptian companies and enhancing coordination with relevant Eritrean authorities to consolidate economic partnership and promote regional integration in the Horn of Africa.
FM Abdelatty arrived in Eritrea earlier Saturday along with Egypt’s Minister Kamel Al-Wazir where they met top Eritrean officials, including Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki.
During the visit, Transport Minister Kamel Al-Wazir signed an agreement on maritime transport cooperation between Egypt and Eritrea, to strengthen logistical connectivity and promote economic, trade and investment cooperation.
