The ministry said the shipment, the 18th relief convoy sent to Gaza, includes mattresses, blankets, and plastic mats requested by the organisation’s office in Gaza to meet urgent humanitarian needs.

The aid was transported on 25 trucks following coordination with relevant Egyptian authorities and international partners.

Supply Minister Sherif Farouk said the ministry, through the General Committee for Foreign Assistance, would continue organizing humanitarian convoys in coordination with international organisations to help ease conditions in Gaza.

The ministry said the latest convoy comes within Egypt’s broader efforts to support Palestinians amid the humanitarian crisis in the territory.

Hossam El-Garhy, deputy head of the General Committee for Foreign Assistance, said the committee has coordinated continuously with Catholic Relief Services to identify urgent needs inside Gaza.

He added that aid delivered so far in cooperation with the organisation has included 83,000 blankets, 61,000 mattresses, 24,000 tents capable of sheltering around 385,000 people, 6,000 plastic covers for rain protection, and 21,500 plastic mats, in addition to hygiene supplies benefiting around 45,000 families.

The ministry said the total volume of aid sent through the programme has approached 2,000 tonnes, transported via five aircraft and 330 trucks.
