Egypt on Monday strongly condemned what it described as repeated Iranian attacks targeting the "sisterly State of Kuwait", warning that such actions constitute a flagrant violation of Kuwait's sovereignty and territorial integrity and pose a serious threat to security and stability in the Gulf region.

The Egyptian foreign ministry stated that the attacks represent a dangerous escalation that undermines regional security and stability, and reiterated Egypt's complete rejection of any actions that infringe upon the sovereignty of states or threaten their security and stability, stressing that such acts violate the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations (UN).

Cairo also expressed its full solidarity with Kuwait and support for all measures taken by the Gulf state to safeguard its security and sovereignty and protect its citizens and residents.

Earlier on Monday, Kuwait activated its air defence systems after its foreign ministry announced that the country had come under a “heinous Iranian attack.”

Iran said it had targeted a US military base in Kuwait in retaliation for what Tehran claimed was the use of the facility to launch recent attacks against Iran.

Kuwait and other Arab Gulf countries have vehemently denied allowing the US to use their territories in attacks on Iran.
